Summer Cocktail Inspiration
Did I tell you we were in Disney World last week? We indulged in all of the yummy delights Disney has to offer including a few libations here and there, OK, almost everywhere. One highlight of this gluttony was a delightful frozen cocktail called Freaujolais, made with Beaujolais, vodka and raspberry.
It was tangy, sweet, fruity and delicious! The lush Beaujolais married with raspberries brought out my inner Francophile and transported me to the French Riviera. It was magical!
Now that we are home and back to reality, e.g deadlines, school shopping and siblings arguing, a magical cocktail is just the antidote for my reality blues. Inspired by the Freaujolais, I created this Raspberry Elderflower Fizz.
Raspberry Elderflower Fizz
This raspberry cocktail is wonderfully tangy from the squeeze of fresh lemon and lime but also sweet and floral because of the elderflower liqueur. And raspberry vodka lends perfect hints of fruity flavor for the finish.
Of course topping it off with a dry crisp sparkling wine makes it a light and refreshing cocktail for summer! And the combination of two very-french ingredients, elderflower liqueur and raspberry, will transport you to a sun-drenched balcony in the French Riviera.
1.5 oz raspberry vodka
Juice from 1/4 of a lime
Juice from 1/4 of a lemon
1.5 oz elderflower liqueur
2 oz sparkling wine
Stir ingredients with ice and strain into a wine glass. Garnish with raspberries.
