If any of these pertain to you, then you will love these simple life hacks:
FACT 1: If you are a mom with kids at home, you are a busy mom.
FACT 2: If you are a busy mom, you neglect your self-care.
FACT 3: If you are busy mom neglecting self-care, you will occasionally experience Mom-Insanity.
I am confessing to neglecting my Self-Care. Heck, I went six days without washing my hair.
I am also confessing to suffering from temporary Mom-Insanity. Once, I put a frozen pizza in an armoire drawer. Why? I have no idea other than I was on autopilot when putting way groceries that day. That evening I looked EVERYWHERE for that pizza. Did I leave it in the car? Did it fall into the backseat of my car, coined “The Pit” by my family, because God only knows what is down there? I ransacked the back freezer. I finally gave up and ordered delivery instead. Did I find it the next day? Nope, I found it about four days later when it really started to smell. Yeah, that’s Mom-Insanity. Disclosure: Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase.

Stop the Insanity with the help of these simple life hacks
Lately, I’ve kept the insanity at bay because I’ve discovered ways to make Mom-Life easier and encourage self-care. And because I want to save you the embarrassment from putting perishable food in a non-refrigerated armoire, I am going to share these hacks with you.
Share Family Calendars and Use Other Helpful Apps
One of the most valuable time saving tips I can recommend is to use your smart-phone how God intended it — to make your life easier!
Use Google or Apple Calendars to set up reminders, repeat events and alarms. Not only do I have my own personal calendar but our family has a shared calendar so everyone can access the family schedule, including practices, birthdays, important academic dates and family vacations.
Another excellent tool is the Cozi Family Organizer. It’s a powerful planning app that is more detailed and flexible than just a shared calendar. Cozi manages schedules, shared to-do lists, grocery lists and recipes. Everything is synchronized across devices and anyone in the family with a smart phone can use the app and manage the shared calendars and activities.
Become an Amazon Prime Member
Does “Oh hey Mom, I have a Science project due on Friday” sound familiar? I wish I had a dollar for every time that one of my kids has told me they need something for school or sports at Zero Hour. By now, I would be so close to owning my own private tropical island and relaxing on the beach.
Who has time to run to Hobby Lobby, Michaels and other stores to acquire all the project-needed supplies? Not me!
This is where Amazon Prime saves my life! Once a member, all Prime products come with FREE one-day or two-day shipping. In some metro locations, free same-day delivery is available. Plus they offer many free benefits with membership.

Use A Grocery Pickup or Delivery Service
The dreaded once-a-week grocery-shopping trip has been exorcised from my life. I am free from the bonds of the two-page shopping list and paper coupons so crumbled that they won’t scan. I no longer have to figure out the complicated puzzle of meat arrangement in my freezer.
Grocery pick-up is one of my favorite hacks and I utilize it almost daily. Most major grocery stores offer pick-up and delivery these days. Some stores will charge you a nominal fee for pick-up, other such as Wal-Mart are free. Grocery delivery is more expensive but when your husband is out-of-town and you have a sick toddler, boy is it a lifesaver.
My newest favorite is AmazonFresh. For $14.99 a month you get unlimited grocery deliveries. Plus, they offer a Free Trial!
My nightly routine is to watch Perry Mason with the hubby and grocery shop online. You can even use coupons! I schedule a pick-up for the next-day and sleep like a baby.
Buy or Start Using Your Pressure Cooker
While we are talking about food, here is a major dinner hack. I love my slow cooker but it can be a liability at times. First, my mornings––like yours––are hectic. I simply don’t have time nor do I want to worry about putting a meal together in my slow cooker. Also, call me crazy, but I always worry about my slow cooker catching fire while I am away. But I LOVE the delicious slow-simmering results of the slow cooker. What’s a girl to do?
Enter the Pressure Cooker. It provides the same delicious outcome in a fraction of the time. Plus, with the browning feature, there is only one pot to clean. You can make a pot roast, a pot of beans, chili, stews and more every night of the week, so quickly that the pressure cooker will be your new best friend.
Sign-up for a Meal-Kit Delivery Service
If you are like me, meal planning can be a real burden at times. I’ll go through stages where I love to research and test new recipes, and then there are spells where I do not have the time or energy to be innovative and creative.
That’s when I make meals that I’ve made for my family FOREVER. And that’s when I hear the complaints, “Tacos AGAIN.” The struggle is real.
So I signed up for a Meal-Kit Delivery Service and I am so grateful I did! These services send everything you need to make incredible, restaurant-quality meals at home—and take planning and shopping off your to-do list. Our service sends quality ingredients for delicious meals with easy to follow instructions.
I use Green Chef because their meals are organic and meant to be made in 30 minutes or less. Plus, they offer a variety of menus including carnivore, omnivore, vegetarian, vegan, paleo, keto, and gluten-free. Here is a comprehensive list to help you choose which service is best for your family.
Run the Dishwasher Every Night
We are a family of five and dirty dishes pile up fast in our house. Start training your kids, as soon as they are old enough, to rinse their plate and load the dishwasher. The previous sentence is a “do as I say, not as I do” statement. Embarrassingly, I didn’t start training my two boys to do this until they were teenagers. It’s a work in progress.
I do a kitchen cleanup after every meal. Before going to bed, I run the dishwasher so I have clean dishes for the next day.
Subscribe To A Beauty Box
I love beauty and skincare products. So when the Beauty Box trend started, I happily followed the masses and subscribed to one. You can read my latest review of BoxyLuxe here. These boxes typically customize the products you receive to your skin type and palette preferences. What I love about receiving Beauty Boxes is that:
- You receive products that may have been under your radar
- You receive products you have been dying to try but held off
- It saves you time by doing product research for you
But my favorite reason is because they ENCOURAGE that elusive self-care. In my last Boxycharm, I received some scrumptious Tatcha Hydrating Masks. When my box arrived, this mamma poured herself a glass of wine, ran a hot bath and soaked in the tub with my hydrating mask on. It was SELF-CARE heaven. Here is an extensive list of Beauty Boxes to help you decide what’s best for you and your budget.
Clothing Box Subscriptions
I love styling outfits. But sometimes I can fall into a rut and it’s nice to have a professional do it for me. These subscriptions save you time and hassle and double as self-care too. It’s like Christmas when my boxes show up and unboxing the goodies brings me joy.
You can learn how to have the best Stitch Fix experience in this post. You can also see what I received in my February Fix, including how I styled each piece in this post.
If you would like to try Stitch Fix, you can sign-up with this link and get your first $25 Styling Fee waived!
I have also started using Stitch Fix Kids for my toddler daughter. Each box contains approximately 10 items. I generally order three boxes a year and fill in the gaps as needed. I have been thrilled with everything she’s received and get so many compliments on her fun and unique pieces.
Curate a Gift Stash
Keeping an assortment of gifts can save you major time and worry. Start by collecting a variety of items for an all-occasion gift bin. Curate unique gifts and gift cards for birthdays, hostess gifts, teacher appreciation presents, etc. My stash contains items like champagne, gift cards (sporting goods stores, restaurants, Starbucks, movie theaters, Amazon), candles, gourmet chocolates and hand cream.
Hire a Housekeeper
This one might receive some push back but hear me out. There are weeks where I can do a few superficial cleans and one deep clean to my home. But there are also weeks where squeezing in even one superficial clean is next to impossible. Because a clean home helps me relax, and just makes me feel good, I’ve hired a housekeeper to clean my house every other week. Time is a valuable resource and I feel like this is money well invested so that I can invest my time with my family.
Shower at Night
As I previously stated, mornings are C-R-A-Z-Y in our home. I simply don’t have the time to shower in the morning, so I have switched to showering at night. I’ve found showers at night help me relax, save time and make my mornings less stressful.
If you’re worried about the hair disaster awaiting you in the morning, the answers are simple. If your hair has been blown out or straightened, use a shower cap to protect your hair and make dry shampoo your best friend. If you prefer the natural waves look, spray texturizer into you clean damp hair, braid your hair and go to bed. In the morning unbraid your hair, and voila, you have salon perfect hair.
